CrossFit Games 2021 have arrived and many CrossFit Games 2021 competitors are thrilled. There will be women's competitions in addition to the regular men's and women's competitions. The women's competition, Pegboard contests, Cutting system and Reebok equipment are all well-known. But, do you really know what to expect? Continue reading to find out! Keep checking the CrossFit news section for the latest updates about the competition.
Competition for women
The 2021 Crossfit Games' women's competition started this morning with the swim race. Jonne Koski and Tia-Clair Toomey Orr won the first event. Koski was the overall champion after she maintained her lead throughout. Tall and Eramoo Connell were second and third, each. It was the women's first event in the Games and the women's side was hoping to complete the podium.
The women's contest is filled with high-level athletes. The field includes nine athletes. One of them is a 19-year old powerhouse, who won the Australian competition last year. Kara Saunders (Australian athlete) finished second in Australia. She was also eleventh worldwide for 2020. Andrea Nisler, a rising star who competed for the team division in 2018, finished third in America and fifteenth overall in 2020. In addition to these athletes, the Women's competition will also feature a newcomer to the sport - Icelandan competitor Sara Sigmundsdottir, who won the first place medal in the World Crossfit Games earlier this year.
Pegboard contest
Pegboard was an original feature at Crossfit Games 2021. Along with dumbbell overhead squats and double-unders, it was included in the Games' summer Olympic programme. With 30 wins, Toomey-Orr holds the record for the most Games events won. Sager won Event 11 men's and received his third Games win. There were several tie in the contest but Toomey Orr's dominance was too strong to stop him winning.

CrossFit Games training involves focusing on ten basic physical fitness skills: endurance, strength flexibility power speed and agility. Competitors are tested on their grip strength and coordination in the Pegboard contest. Competitors hold two wooden pegs between each hand and compete to win. The competition was intense, and the athletes left feeling satisfied after completing their Pegboard.
Cutting system
CrossFit Games has a new cutting system for individual competition. This is not as extreme as past Games cuts, but it is very different this year. There are 15 events in the competition, so it is possible that 30 athletes will be cut after the eighth or seventh event. One question that remains is how CrossFit will adjust the points distribution after cuts. The scoring table used in the 2019 games was nearly identical to the one used in 2021, so it's likely that this will continue to be the case.
The CrossFit Games' largest ever field, consisting of 236 athletes this year, is the largest ever. Major cuts are made at the six initial events. The field is now reduced to 75. The top 30 competitors then compete in the sprint couplet to determine which athlete is number ten. The top 20 athletes will then compete in the six remaining events. Castro's system was criticised by veteran Games participants, who felt that the cuts were too significant.
Reebok's equipment
Reebok announces new CrossFit Games clothing, shoes and other equipment. The Nano X1 shoes are the new model. They are built to accommodate multiple fitness needs. Reebok claims this shoe is "the shoe that will fit all your fitness needs," but it's more like a regular training shoe. The shoe's upper is made from DuPont's Kevlar material, which promotes durability and breathability. The shoe's responsiveness is enhanced by the RopePro tech and a firm midsole.

Reebok's contract with CrossFit will end at the end of 2020, and the Games will be without a title sponsor. Reebok sponsored the Games for more a decade. Now, it is obvious that the company will lessen its involvement. Reebok won’t pay for the Games’ prize, but they will continue to make all athletic apparel, equipment, and gear worn by athletes. The company will no longer call itself the "Reebok CrossFit Game", as it currently does.
